Neurodiversity Celebration Week each March is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes about neurological differences. During this important week, the B-Seen network spotlighted dyslexia to change people’s misconceptions about it, through employee panel events and on our employee podcast, Soundwave.
At Britvic we acknowledge the challenges faced by people with dyslexia, but also appreciate the huge strengths in empathy, critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving that our employees that they bring to the team. These are critical skills for the workplace of today and tomorrow, and we aim to create a culture that both celebrates and fosters these skills.
James Lomax, Fruit Shoot’s Marketing Controller, comments: “Being dyslexic myself, I am hugely passionate about changing the narrative and biases around dyslexia. I hosted several events during Neurodiversity Celebration Week to share the facts and, most importantly, champion the strengths of dyslexia. After the events, I’ve been so proud of the number of dyslexic employees at Britvic who have come forward to become future change-makers and how Britvic has supported them by providing more enablement tools (such as PC software to support reading, writing and grammar) and evolving the way we find and recruit talent into the business.”
