Britvic are pleased to support the new WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) citizen campaign, #ClearOnPlastics.
Clear on Plastics exists to cut through the confusion and give citizens clear information on plastics and sustainability, allowing them to make informed choices when it comes to packaging.
The campaign will explain the complex world of plastics, waste and recycling – for instance, explaining the role of plastics, and demonstrating the balance between the benefits and drawbacks of alternatives.

At Britvic, we recognise the role we play in contributing to a healthier planet and we are committed to supporting WRAP. As a not-for-profit organisation, WRAP works with governments, businesses and citizens to create a world in which we all source and use resources sustainably.
In 2018, WRAP, with the support of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, formed The UK Plastics Pact, of which Britvic are a founding signatory. The Pact brings businesses, government and NGOs together to work towards a global circular economy – one in which plastics stay in the economy and out of the environment.
The Pact’s 2025 goals include:
• 100% of plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable or compostable
• 70% of plastic packaging to be effectively recycled or composted
• The elimination of single-use plastic
• 30% of plastic packaging to include recycled content
All Britvic’s plastic PET bottles and cans are fully recyclable and we recently secured one of the UK’s first sustainability-linked financing deals, which links Britvic’s progress towards sustainability targets to the cost of the debt facility, with any consequent changes to the margin being donated to charities.
Simultaneously, Britvic is investing in the recycling infrastructure needed in the UK. Each year, Britvic invests £850,000 in UK recycling infrastructure through its 2018 commitment to only purchase domestic Packaging Recovery Notes (PRNs) from UK recyclers. More recently, Britvic entered into a long-term agreement with Esterform Packaging Limited for the supply of recycled plastic (rPET), providing £5 million worth of investment towards the construction of a new rPET facility in North Yorkshire.
The business has also announced targets to reduce its carbon emissions and keep the global temperature rise to within 1.5°c. These targets were independently verified by the Science Based Target initiative.
Britvic’s support of the new Clear on Plastics campaign supports our existing work with WRAP and The UK Plastics Pact. Together, we will help make sure plastic never becomes waste.
