Tango and The King’s Trust, previously known as The Prince’s Trust, launches the third year of their partnership, unveiling new research into young people's fears and anxieties.
Tango is excited to announce the third year of its charity partnership with The King’s Trust, previously The Prince’s Trust. This collaboration continues its mission to help young people find their fearlessness and build successful careers, with a particular focus on overcoming anxieties related to career development and personal growth.
A recent survey conducted by Tango reveals key insights into the fears faced by young people aged 16-24. Public speaking emerged as the most daunting task for 36% of respondents, while only 9% found riding the world’s largest rollercoaster as intimidating. The survey also highlights that 71% of young people worry about arriving late to a job interview and 84% describe job interviews as either very or fairly daunting.
In comparison, individuals aged 31-40 expressed greater fear towards extreme activities like skydiving (43%) and bungee jumping (36%), showing a generational shift where Gen Z is more apprehensive about social and professional settings, while older generations are more fearful of physical challenges.
Through their partnership with The King’s Trust, previously known as The Prince’s Trust, Tango is dedicated to challenging these stats by helping young people confront and conquer these fears, whether it’s public speaking, job interviews, or stepping out of their comfort zone. Over the past three years, Tango has donated £325k to support the Trust. By offering support and guidance, the partnership empowers young people to embrace these challenges and find their fearlessness in both their personal and professional lives. These findings show just how crucial this support is, ensuring young people have the confidence and tools to reach their full potential despite the fears and anxieties they face.
Two King’s Trust Young Ambassadors, Hannah and Elysha, are proof of the positive impact that The Trust can have on young people’s lives. Hannah, who once struggled with severe anxiety and depression, found her confidence through The Trust’s Explore programme and is now a self-employed animator with a growing social media audience. Elysha, who grew up in care and faced mental health challenges, found her passion and confidence through the Team programme. She now works at Sainsbury’s and has even appeared in their Christmas advert, a dream come true for her.
To bring this year’s campaign theme of ‘find your fearlessness’ to life, Tango has teamed up with well-known Podcaster & Presenter, @madamejoyce1. Madame Joyce and King’s Trust ambassadors took on a rollercoaster ride, symbolising the journey of overcoming fears. Their reactions were captured on video, alongside essential career advice shared during the experience. The full video can be watched on Instagram.
“Our ongoing partnership with The King’s Trust, previously known as The Prince’s Trust, is a testament to our commitment to address the fears that young people face and empowering them to overcome these challenges by highlighting the great work that The King’s Trust do,” said Asia Banger, Brand Manager at Tango. “The survey insights and this year’s campaign illustrate the need to address these anxieties and support young individuals as they confidently navigate their futures.”
Anna Barrett, Corporate Partnerships Manager at The King’s Trust added, “Working with Tango allows us to reach young people in a unique and impactful way. The research clearly shows that young people need support and through our programmes we aim to inspire them to overcome their challenges, build confidence and pursue their goals.”
