It’s International Day of Women and Girls in Science once again – the perfect opportunity to take a step back, and remind ourselves of the critical role in science and technology we play. Having worked in the industry for over seven years, I’m passionate about inspiring others to explore the opportunities available – especially for women.
This year, the theme focuses on how we’re working to tackle some of the greatest challenges of the sustainable development agenda. As part of our Healthier People, Healthier Planet sustainability strategy – this is embedded in everything we do.
A key focus within our Healthier People pillar, is offering healthier consumer choices – playing a big part of my role when creating new drinks. As we continue to innovate and expand our iconic brand ranges, from Robinsons to Tango, we look for ways to offer better-for-you choices, without compromising on taste.
One of my greatest achievements has been the development and delivery of the Robinsons ready to drink range – the fastest growing juice drink both in grocery and convenience with two of the products, Raspberry & Apple and Peach & Mango, delivering £5 million retail sales value in the first nine months from launch! The ready to drink range is the perfect example of creating no-sugar drinks that shape the way we stay hydrated on-the-go.
As well as working on flavour innovation, another focus of mine is as an ambassador for careers in science, technology, engineering and maths.
This week I had the pleasure of joining my manager, Julie Brahmia, to speak at the Food Matters Live event to inspire careers within the food and drink industry. It was a fantastic opportunity to share insights into what it’s like to work at Britvic, the early career vacancies we have including apprenticeships, and top tips on building a great CV.
On top of this – myself, Beth Highfield and Bilal Yasin, have teamed up with the Science Museum to host live Q&A panel sessions in its Technicians gallery throughout the year, starting in March! Watch this space…
At Britvic, I’m surrounded by inspirational men and women every day and we’re always promoting great talent within the team, as well as showcasing the opportunities available to join our team. Being a part of a diverse team is invaluable to delivering great work and making a difference everyday.
